Lazy Oaf

Originating from capital city, London, Lazy Oaf is a highly creative clothing label and they have just released their Spring/Summer collection. Here's a breif description taken form their website...

LAZY OAF IS FAMOUS FOR IT'S BRIGHT POP GRAPHIC T-SHIRTS, REVERSIBLE SWEATS AND ACCESSORIES COLLECTIONS. THE COMPANY IS DRIVEN BY ILLUSTRATION, GRAPHICS, DRAWING, AND FUELLED BY TEA, HAMBURGERS AND BRIAN BLESSED'S KNARLEY FOOT. THE OAF'S HAVE OFTEN CONTRIBUTED TO PRINT PROJECTS, EXHIBITIONS AND EVENTS.

To celebrate the release of the new collection, the brand transformed their London store into a 'tropical paradise' treating their guests to a selection of Rekorderlig Ciders, accompanied of course by some classic Hawaiian cocktails sticks.

So far the collection is getting a serious amount of online hype for the relatively small label, with articles appearing on a number of massive fashion blogs, such as the US fashion, arts and design digital magazine Hypebeast. The label is now available in over 150 stocklists worldwide, such as Leeds' new mens boutique Dirty Girl Store

Norse Projects Headwear - Spring 2012

In recent years Denmark has seen many great labels emerge. And after years in the mix Norse Projects - one of Copenhagen's finest boutiques launched their inaugural collection. Since the launch of their own clothing range in 2009, the brand has seen a remarkable rise to success. What should you expect from Norse Projects?? Basic, functional but highly aesthetic Scandinavian clothing...

The collection sees Norse adapting their fans favourite 5-panel cap, in the form of the 'Saxpop Solid 5 Panel.' The main release of the classic Norse hat comes in 4 simple, but solid colourways, Black, Green, Cream and Navy, each seeming to complement each other perfectly. But this is Norse we are talking about and the collection would not be complete with a slice of flare. With such a success in the highly patterned Hector Rug Caps or Floral & Hawaiian 5 Panel Caps, Norse have again gone bold with an allover corn print, in Navy and, my personal pick of the bunch, Light Blue.

The collection does not end their, also being released is the very unique 100% wool Baseball cap. Opting to change the normal 'N' print on the front to 'NORSE' i can see these being a big seller. The style coming in both navy & grey, and is sold in fitted sizes. Norse have also released two bucket hats, for those special times when you want to go fishing, but with a bit of style, and finally two wool beanie hats again in navy and grey.

See something you like, catch the full collection now at UK store Goodhead.. Priced from £42-£55!

Solomun

The BFG of dance music world. Standing at 6"3, the big croatian certainly holds a big presence when he gets behind the decks. This physical presence is without a doubt mirrored by his current status within the house music industry. Through his own productions, music label and djing career, Solomun has played a major role in redefining the european house music scene in the last 10 years.

David August, Left, and his mentor Solomun, right. Performing B2B at Motion, Newcastle.

From his own music, edits and remixes Solomun has seen his profile continuously rise within the last 10 years into one of the most illustrious and well like artists in House music. With releases on Buzzin Fly, Get Physical, Mobilee, Compost, his own label Diynamic Music and Sublabel 2Diy4.

Solomun founded the Diynamic Music imprint 5 years ago with close friend Adriano Trolio and has now built up an impressive Roster including Stimming, H.O.S.H., Ost & Kjev, Kollektive Trumstasse and one of the brightest stars of 2011, David August. His hands-on approach to running his label has been evident in the past year, releasing weekly Diynamic Radioshow's alongside artists & guests of Diynamic music, whilst also celebrating their 5th year with the world tour '5 years of Diynamic.' Solomun has also added club owner and promoter to his impressive CV, hosting regular parties at his EGO Club, Hamburg.

Something We All Adore EP was released on Barcelona based Supernature label, and is Solomun most recent work. The EP's main feature the title track 'Something We All Adore' including a quite excellant sample of an Interview called Fortune & Fame given by the late, great Tupac Shakur. Although this is definitely the highlight of the EP, Solomun also provides the highly atmospheric 'He Is Watching You' and finally the slow bouncy beats of 'Girl Slow Down.'

Brilliant EP, hope you enjoy it!

Daniel Bortz - The Mix Machine

Daniel Bortz is 'The Don' of mixing. After already blogging his sudden rise to success in 2011, it has become a habit of mine to check mr.Bortz's SoundCloud regularly for what seems like a monthly podcast. The man is definitely in demand right now, and who can blame you. His regular performances  at the famous Watergate club, Berlin, has seen Bortz established himself as one of the finest producers of emotive deep house. In the last three months Bortz has been produced podcasts for his record label Suol, deep house and disco blog GetDownGood and most recently the illustrious Ibiza Global Radio.

As mentioned above Bortz's most recent podcast, was broadcasted on Ibiza Global Radio some time last week. The mix features a few new tracks from swedish Genius Of Time, Diynamic's Solomun and David August, Armand Van helden and a very nice edit of his own 'Gotye - Somebody that i used to know - [Daniel Bortz Edit]'..

Bortz's December Mix was produced for independent Berlin based Suol Label, that Bortz is exclusively signed to. By far the deepest mix of the three, the Suolmates podcast features the massive Art Department remix of My Favorite Robot - Wakinda Park, as well as the likes of Mario Basanov,  Storm Queen, the edgy UK producer Blawan and a 1980s dance classic Chemise - She Can't Love You (1982) ...

The last of the flawless mixes come from London bloggers GetDownGood. The highly atmospheric mix features tracks from Hot Creations Bubba, PillowTalk, a remix of Sbtrkt's 'Hold On' and one of his own produced with Sascha Sibler, 'Fantasy.' For full track list click through on the Mixcloud link.

Vans Authentic Speckled

The Return Of The Speckled Vans...

In 2009 we saw the collaboration  of Supreme vs Vans producing two designs of speckled print sneaks. The collaboration featured the Vans Half Cab and Era styles, both with speckled canvas uppers, leather lining and insoles. As seen in the pics below, the styles came in four colours, all of which getting a lot of love by sneaker bloggers.

In 2010/2011 Los Angeles streetwear label XLarge teamed up with both Vans + New Era, in anticipation of their 20th Anniversary celebrations. This resulted in the production of a speckled combo, with New Era's LA snapback and Vans Era sneaks. As seen below the two items main feature is the multi-coloured speckled print.

2012 With the success of the previous two campaigns, it seems Vans have taken the initiative and released their own speckled tri-pack, no collaborations this time. The speckled pack this time takes on the classic, fans-favourite Vans Authentic style. Over the many years of Vans Authentic's there have certainly been some very dodgy designs, but in my opinion this is definitely one of the better ones. Unfortunately the tri-pack's release next month is going to be exclusive to Japan for the equivalent price of $72 or around £50.. But depending on their success they should be seen in UK and US stores soon.. Keep you Posted.

Worth a trip to Japan?? Maybe not, but fingers crossed, we will see them hitting some online UK sites soon.

JIC .... You Need A New Series

When looking back at 2011, on what was my first year of blogging, I am surprisingly content with the subjects and areas covered in Just In Case, with one exception. When starting this blog, my main intention and ideal was to express my personal interests in all areas of music, fashion and entertainment. With these intentions held in mind, why did I not see fit to write about my find of the year... Community. Having briefly covered the sit-com when blogging Donald Glover / Childish Gambino, I now want to do the show justice with its own JIC entry...

The series first premiered on NBC back in 2009, and is the creation of Meta-Humour (jokes about jokes) writer, performer Dan Harmon. Originally centralised on the sarcy, smooth-talking Jeff Winger (Joel McHale) who career as a lawyer was stopped when his degree at 'Columbia University', was found to be from "less than legitimate" and "better than real" country Columbia. As a result Winger is forced to join Greendale Community College, where his attempts to pursue Britta Perry (Gillian Jacobs) results in him forming the study group that the show in centralised on. The other members of the study group include  Chevy Chase as the unknowingly racist, sexist stereotyper Pierce Hawthorne, Donald Glover as the jock-turned-geek Troy Barnes, the very sexy Alison Brie as the innocent Annie Edison, Danny Pudi as the human IMDb Abed Nadir and last but by no means least Hangover star Ken Jeong, as the loveable psychopath SeƱor Ben Chang, here is his best moment...

One of the shows highlights is the two part episode "A Fistful Paintballs" and "A Few More Paintballs." The western, action movie parody is a sequel to an episode seen in season 1, "Modern Warfare" where the whole college goes to paintball war over a cash prize of $100,000!! See both episodes in full below..

Part One - A Fistful Of Paintballs                            Part Two - A Few More Paintballs

Enjoy...
